5 on Friday: 5 Things I’m Loving Lately

Welcome to 5 on Friday, a little list of things I’m enjoying lately.  I got this idea from Tim Ferris who sends out his 5 Bullet Friday posts to all his email subscribers and Laura Tremaine’s Secret Posts. How Writing to Do Lists Helps Your Brain
 I’m a list maker of all types. I have a bullet journal for longer lists including books I want to read and I have post it notes on my counter for daily things I need to do or pick up. I can’t live without post its! I’ve tried using my notes app but it doesn’t work for me, I need to be able to actually cross things off, that’s the best part of list making in my opinion. 

TV Show I Love 
Younger  starring Hilary Duff, Sutton Foster, Debi Mazar, Peter Hermann is a show by Darren Star (hello Sex & the City) on TV Land and just finished it’s 5th season. It’ll be back for a 6th so you have time to binge before next summer! It’s set in the world of publishing in Manhattan and there’s drama, love, books, authors, scandal, friendship…basically everything. I highly recommend starting at the beginning or you’ll miss a lot.

Podcast I’m Enjoying 
Currently Reading  with Meredith Monday Schwartz and Kaytee Cobb. I recently discovered this podcast and I’ve already listened to all their episodes (except middle school reads). I’ve gotten some new to me book recommendations and I like that their excitement for books comes through. The format is great as well!

My Must Have for Sore Neck/Shoulders
Neck and Shoulder Heated Pain Relief Wrap
I use this neck wrap daily. It gets heated in the microwave and does wonders for tight or stiff neck and shoulder muscles. I have a lavender one which smells great

Book I Recently Read in One Sitting
One Day in December 
by Josie Silver. I wasn’t too crazy about this cover but the premise drew me in and I read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down! I’ll review it closer to pub day but if you like romances and love stories set over years (think One Day and that type of structure) I think you’ll enjoy this. And it’s set in London…bonus!

  1. Renee, we are list-making twins! I love lists. I also have a bullet journal and have post-it notes everywhere. Crossing off things is most definitely the best part. I’ve been known to write down things that I’ve already done just to get the pleasure of crossing it off, ha! Good to know I’m helping my brain too.

    Thanks for the podcast and tv show recs – they are now on my lists 😊

    I have a similar heat wrap but it’s electric.

  2. I’m a list maker too, for everything, so I’m glad I’m not the only one. I drive my hubby crazy with my notes stuck everywhere, but I like to get things done and lists are the way to go (for me). I love my neck and shoulder wrap too! I use it throughout the day-with fibro and Lupus, it’s a lifesaver! Have you tried sprinkling drops of essential oils on yours? I’ve done peppermint if I was stuffed up and for muscle pain. Also eucalyptus and lavender for joint and muscle pain. I know yours is scented, but the essential oils give a stronger scent and are supposed to be more healing (my family thinks they stink, but whatever!). I just started One Day in December before I fell asleep last night; so glad to hear it’s a good one!! Yay! Happy Friday…btw, I love your 5 on Friday posts! 🙂


    1. I’m so happy to see more list makers! I thought I was the only one sticking post its everywhere:) I haven’t tried essential oils on my neck wrap but I will now, thanks for that tip! I have lavender and eucalyptus oils for my diffuser but never thought to sprinkle them on my wrap. Such a good idea. Can’t wait for your thoughts on One Day In December, I need to discuss it with someone!


      1. Sorry, Renee! I just realized you answered me! No, I’m a crazy list maker too. I hope the oil trick worked…my massage therapist recommended it. I finished One Day in December and I loved it! I laughed and cried, and oh my, it was so good just like you said! I hope they make it into a movie!. ❤


  3. Renee, I’m with you on lists. I couldn’t function without them. In fact, I’m so obsessive that I make my lists in blank page books and then when the book is full I keep it. Why? You never know when you’re going to need to go back and find something.

    1. That’s a great idea Susie! This is the first year I’m keeping so many lists in a bullet journal and I’ll definitely be keeping it. You’re right, you never know when you’ll need to recheck something. I love tossing my post its though after I’ve crossed out all my items!
